After testing positive for Covid (Delta variant, presumably) and having to cancel my first live performance in twenty-five years (with Tantrum), I've been suffering a little in terms of focus, motivation, coordination, and various other issues. We're putting this down to Long Covid, as neither symptom existed until I contracted Covid.
Being a lover of Helloween, and with Michael Kiske being such a major influence on my vocal style, one of the songs I decided to work on was this - "A Tale That Wasn't Right", from their first Keeper album. I chose this because it widens the gamut considerably more than other songs. Starting off with a lower register, softer velvety tone, and then into the higher register for the choruses. In fact, the choruses to the end were a half-step above my current ceiling and I therefore had to drop the song by a half-step to accommodate.
I hope you enjoy.

lyrics
Here I stand, all alone
Have my mind turned to stone
Have my heart filled up with ice
To avoid it breaking twice
Thanks to you, my dear old friend
But you can't help; this is the end
Of a tale that wasn't right
I won't have no sleep tonight
In my heart, in my soul
I really hate to pay this toll
Should be strong, young and bold
But the only thing I feel is pain
It's all right, we'll stay friends
Trusting in my confidence
And let's say it's just all right
You won't sleep alone tonight
In my heart, in my soul
I really hate to pay this toll
Should be strong, young and bold
But the only thing I feel is pain
With my heart, with my soul
Some guys cry, you've bought and sold
They've been strong, young and bold
And they say, play this song again
In my heart, in my soul
I really hate to pay this toll
Should be strong, young and bold
But the only thing I feel is pain

It's just me, all the way down. Although I do tend to write on my own and play all instruments myself, I have been known to
pull in some collaborations.
I love to experiment, musically, and enjoy playing around with time signatures....more
